Birthdays are always time for reflection. It seems it either is a celebration and time for giving thanks for either seeing another year for yourself or for your loved one; or it’s another sign of your age! Lol This was my neice and my daughter’s birthday weekend. My neice’s birthday is on the 15th and Brianna’s is on the 20th and since Brianna has been born we usually do my neice’s party on Saturday and Brianna’s on Sunday. My neice is 13 yrs old. That’s sooo hard to believe. I remember the day she was born. And now she’s wearing dark nail polish, lace gloves, spiked chokers…yeah that whole Twilightish type style. But hey, that’s what she and the other 13 yr old girls in her school are doing right now. I’m not too old not to understand it! My mom…that’s another story…smh. Although I’m still young enough to relate to the stage my niece is going thru and yet the fact that she’s 13 makes me feel so damn old! lol
Then there’s my baby girl. My little drama princess. She turns 5 on Tuesday and today was her special day. She had a Princess Tiana Princess and the Frog party. Usually I get balloons blown up at a local party shop, unless I’m having the party at a location other than home. But when I went to the shop on my lunch break Friday to place the order so they’d have them ready…I didn’t get any service. So I didn’t care for that too much, I bought a Princess Tiana balloon and decided maybe I could find time to get back before today. Well that never happened. So I decided to get a helium tank from Walmart and do my own balloons. Of course when I was at the several stores that I went to today, I couldn’t find any purple/green balloons, only multi-colored, which is ok, but that’s not what I wanted! Nor could I find purple/green streamers…but I’m veering off topic…back to the balloons; so as soon as I started blowing up the balloons I quickly recalled that I suck at tying balloons! If I was ever asked to blow up balloons I’d say that I could do it but they would need to tie it. It’s just something that I wasn’t good at. So after my 2nd balloon and realizing that I was getting really frustrated and this may not pop off in time…I decided to turn to the handy dandy Youtube!! I swear when in doubt, Youtube will help you out! Ha! I looked up “how to tie balloon” and clicked on the first video that came up. I watched it twice, and from that point on I was a pro!
The entire day was pretty hectic and now I’m just glad it’s over. I’m glad the party has come and gone. It was a party with hardly any children but turns out, that was perfectly fine with me. Especially since it was an at-home party. It’s not like we have the biggest space, so it worked out just fine. I can’t believe my baby is 5. If it wasn’t so late and I wasn’t so tired I would look at some of her old videos. Of course I wish we had more and took more home videos but ya know…I remember the whole labor experience. Like almost every detail except for when I was out from the drugs. She worries the mess outta me, Lord knows she does, but that’s my baby girl. She’s my heart. Her and my lil man. Thankful for the Lord blessing my daughter and my niece to see another birthday and many decades more to come. Glad I have a long gap of time before I have to plan another party, and thankfully a 2 yr old party doesn’t require very much!
