Amy Adams stars in this truth-inspired tale as Julie Powell, who decides to enliven her uneventful life by cooking all 524 recipes outlined in Julia Child’s culinary classic Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Based on Powell’s book Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen, director Nora Ephron’s heartwarming dramedy also stars Meryl Streep as legendary chef Child, for which she won a Golden Globe.
I rated this 5 stars!! I absolutely adored this movie!!! I had one issue–it’s length. Many of us know that Nora Ephron is an outstanding director and she can really make a great movie…but my goodness did it have to be this long??? lol For a mom, I need my movies to be less than 90 minutes! Nevertheless, it was a wonderful story that inspired me to want to learn how to cook the old fashioned Julia Child’s way! And who can speak wrongly of Meryl Streep?? I mean this woman is a legend, and watching her in this role, you definitely see why. This woman is truly a gift to the art of acting. If you haven’t watched this, you must do so soon! A wonderfully refreshing movie about finding your passion in life!
