Ok so more than several months ago–yeah we know how I procrastinate–a childhood friend of mine wanted me to post a review on his website which is the link posted above. Now I’m not really a reviewer in that sense of the word, so I was a little hesitant and didn’t know what I would say. But I added it to my to do list. On my blackberry I have a list of blogs that when I get the thought of a blog, I’ll add it to my list and eventually it’ll get done if it’s still relevant by the time I get around to blogging it. Well, this has been at the top of that list and it hasn’t moved…until today. I got off early today and don’t really have much to do and I want to put more into my blogs. So just a second ago I decided to check out his site.
So if you are into Christian Hip-Hop you’ll like MrJohnDuncan. I won’t lie to you, when it comes to me and where I’m at in that area of my life–the scripture says {Train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is older he will not depart from it} yeah I know my scripture but don’t ask me where that’s located–you ask my momma that. And I’m sure I didn’t quote it verbatim, but the point is, that it says that the child may leave that way but will come back to how he was raised. Well I’m on my way back, but I ain’t there yet. Anyway, as usual I don’t get to the point quickly, the point is, I’m not in that stage in life where I’m going to church regularly and whatnot. When I was in church on that level, I still wasn’t a fan of Christian Rap. Give me my Gospel! Give me some John P. Kee, some Fred Hammond, some Kirk Franklin, you know? lol Once again I digress…but I went to the site today, and you know what? I like it! There’s several music videos you can watch, but when you pull up the site one of his songs plays and I really enjoyed it. So much so that I want you to go and support him if you like Christian Hip Hop. Even if you don’t think that’s your style, take a look because if you have younger children or teens this may get thru to them. It’s the same way when people do mixtapes they are doing it to songs that are already popular. Well take that, but let’s talk about Jesus and all he’s done for me and you have yourself something that can easily speak to your spirit. And that’s what it’s all about. Allowing a channel for God to come in and speak to your heart and soul. Wow how profound is that people! I think I just had a little revelation here!
And he’s also an award nominated artist (and no this isn’t the first time!) I got this from his site: I am nominated for 3 categories…Artist (Mr John Duncan), Song (I’m Good) and Album (The Prodigal Son) of the year. Please vote for me in each one of these sections. It is very simple, just go to http://www.dasouth.com/esma and click Mr John Duncan under each category and vote. Thank you in advance.
Like what you see here? Then go support an artist who is actually doing something and doing it for the Lord!!! I know I’m personally proud of him, so is my mom. I mean, I’ve known him since middle school, and he went to my same church, so it’s wonderful to see.
