I’ve been doing a lot of online browsing today…I’m not even sure what I was looking for when I came across a few things that inspired this post. The children’s room is a work-in-progress. It has been for awhile too. It’s hard to find ways to make it work for my children of different age and gender.
Right now we have something like this:
We have it in the pastel color and the plan was to eventually get one in primary colors for Jordan’s toys. As of now I have my daughter’s toys on the top two rows and my sons on the bottom two. But this doesn’t work. I guess the bins are too shallow to fully house two kid’s worth of toys.
I had been planning on using this instead of getting the one in primary colors:
But today I came across a couple of things that I think have steered me away from the cubicals option.
I think this will work perfectly for Brianna. She still loves her princesses and I’ve been looking for a good option for her to keep some of her favorite books.
It’s $35 @ Walmart.com and I think the bins look deep enough to really store some toys away.
Next for Jordan this looks like this will suite him just fine. I like it because of the large toy bin on the bottom. Perfect for all of his larger toys.
It’s $29.50 @ Walmart.com. I think both of these options will handle the majority of my needs in their bedroom. It’s hard having a boy and a girl in the same bedroom and trying to make it work for all of their toys.
Once I get these two storage items that will satisfy the primary need for them. I have a few storage bins that I will put on the top shelf of their closet but that’s about it. It will be really nice to have their room neat and organized. I’ve pared down a lot of the toys they have and have adopted the philosophy of for any new toy that comes in the house, a toy must go out. Especially with Jordan’s birthday and Christmas being right around the corner…we must be able to store it away!
I will be putting the storage bins in the first pic up on Craigslist once I get the other two items. I think I’ll go ahead and order these this upcoming weekend since I was already going to be placing a Walmart order. I like it when things work out that way 🙂
