I’m taking back control over my coupons. Because it has gotten way out of hand.
Last week was Super Doubles at Harris Teeter. Not only did I not even have a full 20 coupons to double, I spent more than my weekly goal. I was disgusted.
This week I’ve attempted to at least clip and sort some coupons at work. It was a futile attempt.
Now it’s the weekend and my opportunity to really get them handled. Last night when I was making this morning’s shopping list, I realized that it’s been a few months since I’ve really been on top of my coupon game. That’s messing with my money. When I’m not saving, I’m not a happy camper. I threw away so many coupons away that were on my dining room table that expired in April. Yes I said April. Tomorrow is July. Yeah, it’s disgusting to me as well!
I have got to get back to my frugal ways. 100 percent. And that’s what I’m doing. I’ve gotten into the lazy habit of not tackling my coupons on Sundays. When I take my inserts and add them to the stack from last week and the week before, the next thing you know, it’s been a month and I have inserts that I haven’t even touched! Totally defeats the purpose. And it adds clutter.
Because tomorrow is the first of July, it’s the prime opportunity to start fresh. Tonight I’m going thru my current coupons and discarding the expired, handling the pile on the dining room table, and handling those that I’ve printed. Tomorrow I will cut and sort my new coupons. Couponing isn’t a chore as long as it’s handled right away. When you let them stack up, then it becomes a chore. It doesn’t take hours to go thru a week’s worth of coupons, but it does if you’re going thru several week’s worth. And that’s been my problem lately.
I’m getting a lot of things in my life in order right now. Trying to anyway. One of the biggest areas of impact are my finances and couponing is the easiest way to create more income so to speak. I will be working overtime this month, although I hate to do it. When I’m back on top of my couponing, that definitely will not be something I’ll need to do. Sure would be nice if I had some help, but as with everything else…Mommy does it. So off to the dining room table I go…
