One of my favorite apps on my phone is Shopkick. I shared my thoughts on a previous post. Since then of course, there have been upgrades, and I use this app even more. It’s definitely in my top 10 most used apps on my phone.
What is Shopkick?
In a nutshell, it’s an app that allows you to get kicks (points) for doing any of the following:
- walking into participating stores
- scanning items in participating stores
- purchasing items in participating stores
- purchasing select items in app
- viewing lookbooks in app
- referring friends to the app
One of the easiest ways to get kicks is simply to walk in to participating stores. On big kick days, I may go out of my way to walk into Best Buy or I may pop in at Old Navy because it’s on the way to where I’m going.
The main way I use Shopkick is if I was already going to go to JcPenney because I had a coupon, by walking into the store with my app open, I collect the amount of kicks offered at that time. It can be 30 to 200. On top of that, when I purchase from JCP with a card I have linked in the app, I get kicks for the purchase. Some stores are basic, like $1 = 1 kick. Others give you a bonus for spending a certain amount. Such as spend $50 and get an extra 250 kicks. Those kicks are available once the return period is over.
In stores like Target and Walmart, if you have time to kill then you can scan items barcodes in store to get kicks in the app.
What do I do with the kicks?
There are tons of gift cards available to purchase in the app with your earned kicks. I’ve already used a couple of Target gift cards. The gift cards are inside the app itself. You just show the barcode to the cashier and the gift card is redeemed. It’s super easy. And I love it because at Target I can use both the Cartwheel app and the Shopkick app!
Now you’re probably wondering how you can get Shopkick…simple, just click here and a link to download will be sent to your phone 🙂
