Merry Christmas!! I hope you had a wonderful holiday! I know for many it looked different but I hope you still were able to find some joy in the day. We had a great Christmas 🙂 I thought I’d share our Christmas 2020 recap along with a few decor pictures I haven’t shared yet. Plus I’m already thinking about next year and sharing my thoughts on what I’d like to do for next Christmas.
OUR CHRISTMAS 2020
On Christmas Eve we hosted my parents for what we called Thanksgiving 2.0. Because our Thanksgiving was a very small affair we didn’t have a huge meal. We had the basics, turkey, stuffing, and all that. But there was one thing my kids really wanted and that was ham.
So my mom made a ham and some other fixings and I made a turkey with more sides. It was my first time making a turkey on my own and I must say it was very very good!
We had a good time with my parents. Once they left, I mustered up some energy and wrapped the last of the gifts. I had intended on having everything wrapped before and I pretty much did. However there were a few gifts that didn’t arrive early enough. Sadly a couple didn’t arrive in time for Christmas day but that’s okay.
Our Christmas day was really nice and calm. We woke up and unwrapped our gifts. I used to make a big breakfast but I made chocolate croissants instead. And we relaxed the rest of the day. I took a couple of naps…it was glorious!
Now that Christmas day has passed I am itching to take down the holiday decor. But my in-laws are coming in a couple of days so I’m leaving the decor up until then. I’m excited to get back to a clean slate and I have the itch to do some rearranging. We’ll see how it goes.
A FEW MORE HOLIDAY DECORATING PICS
I figured I’d share a few pictures that I haven’t shared yet of some of the Christmas decor.
Last year I really wanted to get a beefed up wreath for the front door. This is a 30″ pre-lit wreath from Home Depot. I added another set up battery lights to make it really shine.
I still like the wreath I got last year from Big Lots and it looks great on the inside of the door. I’ve got a set of string lights on it too.
For a while I didn’t know what to do with these flocked wreathes from last year. I stuck them on the front coat closet doors and then added the flocked garland too. I’ve only been able to appreciate it for the last couple of weeks because this space has been my holiday decor central.
I was so happy to get my hands on this light up wall art that I shared in my Kirkland’s Christmas favorites post. It was on sale and available in store so I had to have it! It’s pretty in the daytime and cool to look at in the evening.
CHRISTMAS THOUGHTS FOR NEXT YEAR
Each holiday season I’m always thinking about what I want to do next year. Here’s my thoughts so far:
Incorporate more green. This year I started to notice a lot of green touches with pillows and throws that I would like to add into the mix next year. I don’t think I’ll ever give up the red, but adding in the green should be fun.
Buy matching Christmas pajamas. This takes early planning and maybe paying retail price to ensure that we get the styles and sizes we’re looking for.
Take family pictures and send Christmas cards. We haven’t had family pictures since the kids were younger. They don’t have to be professionally done, we just need to find a nice location and use a tripod to get some good shots.
At this point I can officially say that I don’t feel the need to buy a lot next holiday season. A lot of the bases have been covered this year. Of course I know Kirkland’s will lure me in, probably Hobby Lobby too. But I feel confident that I won’t need to buy a lot.
Because of that I do want to do a little more with our outdoor decor. Maybe get some light up reindeer or something to make the outside decorating pop. I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of how we decorated our front porch.
We didn’t do much but I did have a couple of porch signs and Christmas lights on our bushes. Next year I want to go bigger!
Now that Christmas is over I am enjoying a relaxing couple of days. I’m thankful to have this last week of 2020 off from work. I’ll be undecorating of course and prepping my planner for 2021. It’s time to reflect on all that was 2020, set goals and know that 2021 is going to be a good year. Happy Holidays! 🙂
I too have been thinking about my decor for 2021. Though I have to work my full time job my business is closed for a few days. I will be planning and paying bills and organizing and reorganizing. 2021 will be great. Your decor looked straight out of a magazine just beautiful.
thanks Chantel!! ♥ 2021 will be amazing for us!!!
