What is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day is an online two day event where huge record breaking deals are posted for 48 hours. Prime Day originally was a birthday celebration that started back in 2015. Each year since then the deals have been bigger and better! It’s a nice way to reward Prime members and it’s the perfect time for you to get your hands on awesome sales.
When is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day is a two day event and this year is June 21 & 22. June 21 at 12:01 AM PDT through June 22 at 11:59 PM PDT to be exact. With everything that happened in 2020 it got pushed to the Fall and this year it’s in June.
Not a Prime member?
In order to take advantage of the amazing deals for Amazon Prime Day you do have to be a Prime member. I’ve been a Prime member for years because it’s worth it to me. If you’re not a Prime member, you can sign up for a free 30 day trial membership and take advantage of Prime Day and everything else the membership has to offer!
I’ll let you in on a little secret…you can set up Prime membership month to month if you don’t want to pay annually. Also if you’re a college student with a .edu email address, you can get a 6 month trial to Amazon Student. You’ll still get all the benefits of a regular Prime membership!
Plus if you participate in some government programs like EBT, you can get Amazon Prime at a reduced rate. Prime is just $5.99 a month for qualifying customers in select U.S. government assistance programs such as holders of the EBT card. Enjoy the benefits of Prime at almost 50% off the regular monthly price.
HOW TO SHOP AMAZON PRIME DAY
I have a few tips to help you out because as with any big sale like this, you need to be prepared. First, pack some patience. Glitches can happen, sites can crash, just take a few deep breathes.
There are going to be so many deals it can easily get overwhelming. On top of discounted deals there will also be Lightening Deals. These deals release every five minutes! Some are better than others, but if you see one you like, buy it right away.
Don’t shop other items because when you go back to your cart to check out it will have already sold out. Also, Lightening Deals have a 15 minute timer on them before they disappear so move fast!
Make a list of everything you may want or need. It’s not too early to think about Christmas, birthday or wedding gifts. Go ahead and start looking those items up, you can even add them to your cart. Then when the deals go live you can see if the items have dropped in price.
Make a budget and stick to it. In addition to what I said before, go ahead and write down what the original price was. Do some comparison shopping ahead of time. See if that InstantPot is really the best deal. Don’t overspend because it’s a great deal.
It’s not a great deal if you can’t afford it or have to go into debt for it. And something I like to say to keep me on track is a sale is not a sale unless it’s a sale for you.
