During this time of staying home and sheltering in place it’s pretty easy to just sit in front of the TV all day or constantly check the news and social media for updates, but this is only going to make your stress and anxiety worse. Instead you should try focusing on adding more self care into your routine. Today I’m sharing how to practice self care at home.
The goal of practicing self care right now is to reduce your stress and anxiety. I suggest starting with shutting off the news and maybe taking a break from social media for a few hours or maybe the whole day.
Then think about what would make you feel good right now. Here’s how to practice self care at home during this tough time or anytime really because we all need to take a little extra care of ourselves.

Everything I’ve shared so far are ways to practice self care without spending any or much money. Many of us are being mindful of our spending because things are so uncertain right now. If you are able to spend a little money right now, then why not treat yourself a bit.
- buy some new makeup you’ve been eyeing
- order some new decor for your home – we recently got new bedding and it makes a world of difference
- treat yourself to a new candle
- give a meal service like Home Chef a try
- buy a few new outfits for when we can all socialize again
- get a gift certificate for a massage or spa day – again, for when life is back to normal
- invest in some new pajamas
- subscribe to a self care subscription box
Taking care of yourself is always important. I know it’s easier said than done. We’re always being pulled in a million different directions and have so much on our plates everyday. If anything good can come from all of this, it’s the extra time we have. (I know many of us are essential workers but for those of us who aren’t, time is aplenty right now)
The self care ideas I’ve shared today are great anytime because we all need a time to dedicate to ourselves. You deserve it and taking some time to do something you love just for you…not for the kids, or your spouse or your roommate…is super beneficial and necessary.
Take care of you ♥
