Today is a perfect example of why working out at home is a much better choice versus going to the gym, as well as more cost effective. I live in North Carolina and when it snows, things shut down. Now I’m sure in Buffalo, NY or North Dakota that when it snows, it’s not until it’s off the chain that things close. But anyway, to my point, the whole thing about New Year’s Resolutions is that people sign up for gym memberships and all and spend all this money, and then you end up not going consistently because of one reason or the other; such as…snow/inclement weather, or if you’re like me, you just hate the cold, so you don’t go to the gym until it warms up, you don’t wake up early enough to get up and go to the gym before work/school, you have too much going on after work/school, oh and then there’s if you have to deal with childcare…the list can go on and on…
The point is…why (unless you are already an avid gym goer (i’m not knocking you)) would you spend your money every month to go to the gym, plus the gas to get there, plus the new gym clothes, plus any childcare fees you might have…when you can do it all in the comfort of your own home? Hear me out…I used to be the person who HAD to be in the gym, because if I stayed at home, I wasn’t gonna work out. But that all changed after I had a baby. Because once you have a baby, it’s not just about you going to the gym. It’s about the whole process of getting the both of you ready for the gym. I had to drop her off at daycare, go to the gym, shower and get dressed at the gym, then go to work, then come home and have very little time with my baby. You spend so much extra time getting ready to go to the gym and getting ready to leave the gym, time that you could be spending actually working out.
When you work out at home, you do it on your schedule. If it needs to be before work, when everyone else is sleep, then that is your time. If it’s during the babies naptime, then that’s when you have the time to press play. You get the point. That’s how I lost my baby weight before, and that’s how I’m going to lose weight for good.
I’m not saying that you won’t make excuses just because you’re doing it at home. You have to overcome the same excuses you would if you were going to the gym. That’s not what the post is about. It’s about how, by doing it at home, you’re taking out one of the biggest excuses…TIME. You’re cutting out so much time by doing it at home. When you do it at home you get dressed…whether it’s old sweatpants or a cute workout ensemble, you go to the location in your home where you workout, get your water and a towel, and you press play. It’s as simple as that. People would ask me all the time questions like, wow how did you find time to lose weight with a baby and a full time job? or when did you find time to go to the gym? For us moms even more than others, we have to carve out that time for ourselves. You may be saying to yourself, working out isn’t time to yourself…oh but it is! It really is! Not only can you focus time for just you, you relieve stress, improve your fitness and health, and you’re better able to deal with the demands of your day.
If you’re just stumbling upon my blog or if you’re a regular reader, I invite you to checkout the Beachbody label at the bottom of this post and see a lot of the products that Beachbody has to offer. Because for me, it was about setting up that hour for myself each morning and pressing play. That daily step helped me to reach my goals and is what’s gonna keep helping me now. I can tell how off I am when I don’t have my daily workout. I’ve been working so much overtime lately and my body has been sending me queues to get back to my routine. It’s way past time for me to listen to what my body’s been trying to tell me. I’m posting a lot of different options because so many people think Beachbody and only think P90X or something, but the company is an amazing company and I love it because it pretty much has something for everybody. No matter your starting point or your fitness goals, and that’s why I’m so passionate about it. Because for me, when I was going to the gym, the machines bored me, sure I loved doing the elliptical to J Lo, Britney and Beyonce, but it was still boring. I loved group classes but the schedule doesn’t always work with yours and it can be just something else to stress about. When I hear the first notes on my Turbo Jam and Turbo Kick workouts, a smile spreads across my face and my hips start to shake because I’m about to have my own little personal workout party! That’s what it’s about. It’s about finding something YOU love! Not what works for your friend necessarily. I could talk to you until I’m blue in the face about Turbo Jam but if you’re looking to do a program that’s gonna lean you out and push you against your limit, then Insanity would be more your style. Or if you just want something that will help you get fit, have fun and praise God at the same time, Body Gospel is more your style. Maybe you’re wanting to tone up but don’t wanna bulk up, Slim in 6 is for you. See there is so much to choose from and that’s what I love about it. That’s why I’m posting up these great videos for these awesome programs, so that you can find a program that fits you and your needs. You can do it at home, but you won’t be alone. You have me and Team Beachbody with you every step of the way! So I hope you find the info to be useful 🙂 Just click on the link or banner at the bottom of the program’s post under my Beachbody Category. Or you can go to www.facebook.com/Aria1103.
