As tired and sleepy as I am, how could I not come and do a quick post about how freaking ecstatic and fired up I am that my POTUS was re-elected last night!!! WOOOP!!! WOOOPPP!!!! OBAMA!!!!
I can’t even begin to express it in words how I feel. How I felt last night. How long it took me to wind down last night…
So at 11:12 est when MSNBC flipped the screen and showed that Obama took Ohio and sealed the deal… I was too excited to cry! I couldn’t take the smile off my face. It was everything I could do not to scream and wake up the kids. I did a little praise shout. I jumped up and down. I ran around hugged my husband till he said I was hurting him!! Last election I had my c-section on election day so I was very happy last time too, yet I couldn’t quite express it! lol Hard to do when you have a c-section incision, a morphine drip and whatever other meds I was on and oh yeah a nursing newborn!
So in case you’re under a rock, here’s some of the pics I posted on the book of faces aka Facebook:
So now what? Now that it’s all over…now what? Well, after at minimum of 3 months non-stop watching MSNBC from 6-10pm I think I will get back to my E!News nightly for one. I’ve watched it maybe once! Not even on the weekends because even then I was still glued to MSNBC. Now that we’re family (lol) I can’t just leave them…so we’ll see. I know the kids are dying to watch more of their tv time and less news commentary.
But in reality, I am a political pundant at heart! lol I’m sorry, nope, no I’m not sorry, it is who I am. I wouldn’t call it a regret as much as it is that I wish I could go back in time and tell that little girl, that yeah you hate school, but do 8 years instead of 4 and it will make a world of difference! PoliSci should have been my major, it really should have been. But hey, this is the road I’m travelling and until I get to land my own Cable news show or radio show…I’ll stick to struggling like the rest of the lower class. Yeah I said it.
After all is said and done tho, (you see I keep trying to close it out, what am I a preacher? lol) I am so overjoyed that Obama won again so that he can get more done for our country. I’m happy that my children got to see it happen and they will always remember Obama. Always. Aside from the Presidential election I want to say that I’m giving a standing ovation to Maryland and Maine for passing marriage equality!!! And a shout out to Colorado and Washington for legalizing the mary jane 🙂 #progress
One thing for sure is that my state, North Carolina, I believe is now officially a swing state. It was soooo close both times…in 2008 was for Obama and 2012 for Romney. There’s a lot of racial tension that I am truly disgusted by. I did post one pic of that nature on my instagram, but others I just didn’t even want to see again they were so vile and disgusting. We elected our first Republican Governor in quite some time. Pat McCrory was a long time Mayor of Charlotte and did great things for that city. I’ll admit I was a toss-up on the Governor’s race because our state really needs change and I personally didn’t vote for Bev Perdue when she ran in the primaries, but I did in the general election. I like some things she’s done but overall not a fan.
Last but not least, as I close this chapter of re-election and turn back to other things and the next four years…I look forward to going to facebook and not scrolling through umpteen Obama and Romney pics. Posts I’m ok with but the pics take longer to load, etc. It’s just hella annoying. And most importantly: No more political ads!!!
