Last weekend in addition to Easter, we celebrated the birth of my daughter. She is 9 years old. The last of the single digits. The last year before the tween stage begins. Although if you ask me, I already have a tween on my hands. With the attitude. Smh.
But that’s my baby girl and I love her to death. She’s smart and beautiful and has her share of sass. What can I say? She gets it honest. She consistently makes Principal’s List. She’s healthy and has always been. Overall speaking, I have a great kid on my hands. She’s starting to come to me more with things she doesn’t feel comfortable asking her Daddy about. She is a Daddy’s Girl and has been from day one. So I like that she’s beginning to come to me. We but heads like crazy, but she’s a Taurus and I’m a Scorpio. Add to that fact that it’s a Mother//Daughter relationship and yeah…it comes with the territory.
As with any of her previous birthdays…being in April in North Carolina means expect the unexpected when it comes to the weather. There’s always been a weather mishap except for one time I believe…and that was the year we had her party at an indoor venue. Had we planned for it to be outdoors it would have rained. And I don’t mean just a rain shower. I mean raining cats and dogs with hail and the whole nine. We’ve experienced tornadoes before and this year it decided that for Easter and her birthday, it wanted to revert back to Winter. It was wayyy cold. But we didn’t let that deter the celebration.
