At this stage in the game one would think that I’d be better at this by now. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The case is that when I fall off the wagon, I fall hard and usually end up with a bruise on my bum! lol What am I talking about? I’m talking about my fall from my fitness track. I was doing so great. I was working out 6 days a week, seeing great results with my low carb eating. I was fitting into a few size 12 pants with the help of spanx and my 14s were fitting well without the use of spanx. The bad news is that I allowed Thanksgiving to steer me off course. We had potlucks at work, and everytime I turned around there was more and more food. And because we were in a training class and we all had the same lunch time, we would go out to eat. Not only did that hurt my weight loss, it also put a hurting on my wallet. The good news is that I know what the problem is so that I can fix it. The good news is that when I stepped on the scale the other week I had only gained 3lbs instead of the 10lbs that it felt like I had gained. The good news is that I’m back on track today!
Here’s what I know about myself–I need a routine. If it’s not planned out it doesn’t happen for me. I know that the biggest contribution to weight loss is your eating. So I had started off after my first few days at work, to bring my lunch. But then I fell into the peer pressure of “let’s go out to eat” and I’ll admit it was so much easier to do that than to come home after work with the kids and then fix something to eat and prepare my lunch for the next day. On top of that, I don’t like when I don’t workout. When I am working out, I don’t need coffee. I like the feeling of my muscle definition. I don’t like feeling soft which is how I feel right now, and after a few days of working out. Yes in the beginning when you’re starting to workout, it sucks to make yourself do it, but after a few days it becomes routine.
This week I’m using to get myself into a routine. With my job, the first 4 weeks we worked 8-5. So that meant I had to wake up in the 5 o’clock hour in order to fit in a workout. But then I couldn’t workout to my fullest because our floors are so creaky that I couldn’t do plyometrics or give it my all during the turbos. So in the 5th week we went to our regular schedule of 11-8. That took some adjusting and with Christmas right around the corner, I was using that time before work to do some shopping also. The next week daycare was closed. So it was just not an opportunity for me to get in a workout and clean up before going to work. So now here we are now. This week is a short week with New Year’s. And so I’m using this week to get back on my grind. I’m starting with my eating. I’m doing that for 2 reasons (1) for me personally it’s easier to change my diet and get a few lbs off before adding in the exercise rather than doing it all at once and (2) I have a lot of housework that I’m trying to get caught up on before I go to work; and trying to also get into a routine with that. My whole routine has been skewed so I’m trying to just get everything done in the best way.
I know I have to get back on track because yesterday my husband said my face looked like I gained weight and so did a co-worker. And unfortunately, I agree with them because I can see it too. But not for long!
Yeah that's true. I used to be really into the gym but after having kids it worked better for me to workout at home. But eventually I would like to try spinning so if I can find a good deal I'll probably look into that in the spring.
Well I do have one suggestion to help with that getting a gym membership does help because you meet people there that keep you motivated and they also have childcare there too. But make sure you pick the right gym.
