I don’t usually care to participate in events at work. I didn’t do every day of Spirit Week back in my School Days either. It’s just not my thing. But I do like to dress up for Halloween. I was going to be a Pirate this year. But after not finding the right costume, and cost being a factor, I decided I needed to come up with something out of my closet. I’m not the most creative person on the planet and I didn’t really start trying to come up with an idea until the night before Halloween.
In all honesty, I like to participate in Halloween because it gives me a reason to wear nighttime makeup in the daytime! lol I mean, it’s not like I have a social life at the moment so when else can I beat my face? : )
I decided that I could wear my Flirty Apron with one of my favorite sundresses, pop a long wig on and be a 1950’s housewife! Because of work, I put on a little caplet underneath so I wouldn’t be overexposed. I don’t currently have any sheer hose so I wore tights with my heels.
Perhaps the best thing about this look is the fact that this is one of my all-time favorite dresses. I’ve had it for years, back when The Stepford Wive’s movie came out with Nicole Kidman. New York & Company had a large collection of sundresses in the 50’s style that season. I loved so many of them, but as a college student, had to make a selection of only one. This dress used to be a goal dress for me to get back into when I was heavier. It’s nice to know that this dress fits me perfectly and that’s without Spanx!! : )
Me and my co-worker were the only ones on our team who participated in the Halloween Parade. The Halloween Parade is uber embarassing and I always want to cop out at the very end. He’s Ted if you can’t tell : )
Next year the goal is to get my hubby to dress up too! I would love to have a couples costume when we take the kids trick or treating! This year Brianna was a cheerleader (made me so happy!) and Jordan was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. He was Michelangelo to be exact…he wanted to be Leonardo but Michelangelo was the one I could find and it was the last one available in his size! He was happy either way : )
