The blogs have been abuzz about Harris Teeter’s Super Doubles week and I try not to get excited until I get my weekly ad by email from HT. Because sometimes the different markets will have Super Doubles and we don’t. Like for example, in the Raleigh market they may have Super Doubles a week or two ahead of me in theGreenville market. So anyway, let’s just say I was super excited to get the weekly ad!!! Because as an added bonus…this is my payweek so I could actually get some good things!
So yesterday on my way to work, I stopped by HT and picked up a flyer to go thru while at work (I swear I’ll be so glad when I get my Iphone…my BB web browser just doesn’t let me do anything so I can’t see the flyer on my phone and I couldn’t wait till I got home to work with my computer at home that’s on it’s death bed). Well I’ll admit, I was a bit disappointed with the advertised deals, but that doesn’t get me down!
This is only my second Super Doubles time since really being into couponing and what I learned the first go around is that you gotta go on several days if you’re really trying to rack up. That is because HT policy is a max of 20 coupons in one day. This doesn’talways work for me because I get paid on Fridays and mid-week grocery shopping just isn’t feasible with my schedule and the kids, etc. So I had a little cash and decided to see what I could find yesterday. I did ok. Would have done better if I wasn’t having a dispute with my DH that caused me to leave the store early because frankly, I can’t shop when I’m angry. I wasn’t prepared, didn’t really have my coupons out, wasn’t trying to fumble thru my binder…so it wasn’t really great. But I did get 5 items at a cost of $2.41. So I think I did ok, and I may go back today.
So here’s what I got:
The Kraft mayo was bogo for $4.99. My coupon for $1 off double to $2 off = $2.99.
We were in desperate need for ketchup so I’m glad I saw it on an end cap, because I don’t recall seeing it in the ad…but the ketchup was I believe for 4/$5. I got two because I had a coupon that was $1 off 2. The coupon said it didn’t double (the ones you get out of All You mag from ConAgra foods) so I was surprised that it did. So I ended up paying 44 cents for two Hunt’s Ketchups.
Lastly as I was going to check out, angry at this point due to my own drama, I saw the clearance section. This particular HT I went to isn’t the normal one I go to, and frankly I don’t like how they have their clearance section set up. They had it wedged between a register and self-checkout…so I couldn’t actually browse thru it like I wanted. But I did see a box of Playtex tampons marked down to $1.80. I had a coupon for $1.50 off…and guess what???? That doubled too!!!! It required a manager override but sure thing, I got it and that caused the overage to go towards the other items, so my total out of pocket cost for this transaction was $2.41!!!
I think that’s good!!! I had planned on picking up some lunch meats and other items, but got frazzled and just left. My next step is to go to the HT shop from home site and do my price matchups. I hate going into the store unorganized like I did yesterday. Itdoesn’t matter if I have 5 things or 30 things to get…when I have it all organized and my coupons pulled out with my prices…I can get in and out. I hate wandering around the store! lol
