HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
I had prepared in the past few days for the upcoming Super Doubles at Harris Teeter. Historically they’ve had a Super Doubles Event at the beginning of the year, so I was trying to get ahead of the curve. Except I along with others thought it would begin on January 8th. I found out yesterday that it was going to start today.
It only took me till around 4 pm to get my act together and left the house at 4:45.
Today’s goal was to get what I knew would be free. I’ll work on just getting a deep discount Friday and Saturday and then will see what deals are available with the new coupons coming out Sunday.
Because I did leave so late in the day I expected to miss out on some things. The only things I planned to pay out of pocket for were the pens and the Excedrin. I got the last Excedrin. I wanted a different flavor of the crockpot sauces that was gone, but I was glad this flavor I did get was available since it’s the only other sauce I would want to try. I knew it was a long shot, but if the Christmas cookie dough was available, they would have been free. Instead I didn’t mind paying a little out of pocket for the ones I got. I could have picked another pack of Bic pens that would have been free, but I’m snobbish about my pens and these are good pens!
Now that I’m really looking at my receipt I’m noticing that I was charged twice for the pens…so I’ll be going back tomorrow to address that.
Here’s the breakdown…
The Bic pens $2.49 coupon $1 x 2 = 49 cents
Campbell’s slow cooker sauce $2 coupon $1 x 2 = FREE
Febreeze air effects $2.99 coupon $1 x 2 EVIC coupon $1 = FREE
Pillsbury cookies $2.50 coupon $1 x 2 = 50 cents each
Excedrin $3.89 coupon $1 x 2 = $1.89
Savings breakdown based on what I paid: Saved $14.87 Paid $3.45 Saved 81%
Savings breakdown estimated once my receipt is corrected: Saved $14.87 Paid 96 cents Saved 94%
81% savings is amazing but I’m on a mission so I want to get the full savings.
Now let me get back to cutting my coupons and doing match ups for the rest of the event!
UPDATE: I went back to Harris Teeter today (1/2/14) and the customer service desk politely refunded my money without ANY hassle!!!
That brought my amount paid down to 79 cents, same amount saved of $14.87 which brings my percentage saved to 95%!!! What a way to start off the New Year!!! Woop Woop!!!
