Last night was my stepdad’s 60th birthday surprise party. I decided to use that as an opportunity to play with my makeup. I specifically bought the NYX Jazz Night Palette for going out. I haven’t been out in ages, so I decided to do a toned down version of the first look I played with when I got the palette.
Here’s what I used:
NYX The Runway Collection 10 Color eyeshadow palette in Jazz Night
Coastal Scents 28 Color Neutral Palette–I used a shade for highlight and a brown shade for blending
MAC Mineralized Blush in Buddy Up
Mary Kay Nourishine lipgloss in Berry Sparkle
Urban Decay lipstick in Midnight Cowboy
Revlon Colorstay liquid Foundation
MAC MSF Natural
Brushes Used for eyes:
Sigma SS252, SS275, SS224, SS219
Sigma just recently changed the names of their brushes…so here’s the new names.
I don’t usually do a lot of colors when doing my eye makeup. Usually just stick to two main colors, maybe three. I used the SS252(a flat shader brush) to apply the blue color over 2/3 of my eyelid. I used the SS224(blending brush) to apply a brown color from the Coastal Scents palette, to blend into the crease. Next I used the SS275 (angled shadow brush) to form a small V with the deep purple color. I used a generic fluffy brush to apply a highlight color from the Coastal Scents Palette to my browbone and my tear ducts. Then I used the SS219 (pencil brush) to connect the dark shadow to my lower lash line about 1/3 of the way in and then used the SS252 to apply the lighter blue under the remainder of my lashline. I didn’t use any eyeliner. And I topped it off with a coat of Rimmel Glamour Eyes Mascara.
This is my first time posting, a how-to so to speak. So we’ll see how it goes. Because I was going to a family event and not a night out, I didn’t use eyeliner. I figured the dark shadow was enough. I think the lips helped to balance the eyes, although I’m not a lip person. I tend to throw on lipgloss as an afterthought, so I just used the two colors that seemed to work. The Urban Decay lipstick I got from a kit when I got my Urban Decay Primer Potion…I wouldn’t have purchased it on my own. It’s like just a shimmery color, not much else to it. The Mary Kay lipgloss I got for my birthday last year, and never really wore it until recently. It’s actually the perfect berry color!
The main reason I purchased this palette was for these two colors and I’m pretty happy. In the two upclose pics below you’ll see the sparkle in both of them, neither of them overdone.
If you were interested in the hair…I’m wearing Outre Sabina Half Wig.
