A couple of weeks ago I was in Raleigh for my cousin’s apartment warming. We also went to The Container Store and to the mall. Being broke at the time, I’m usually not a fan of window shopping. I find it depressing, but this time I didn’t mind.
Going to Raleigh has honestly put a lot of things into perspective for me…but that’s not this post. While we were at the mall, we ran into someone who was from my Aunt’s town. So they were talking and whatnot and the lady was saying that she doesn’t come out this way and my Aunt said, well where do you shop? Her reply was Target and Walmart. And you know what? That’s where I shop too!
It’s like, my primary clothes that I buy…the basic tees, jeans, etc I get them from Target and Walmart. Sure I shop at NY & Co on occasion, JCPenney, Kohl’s etc…but for the most part I’m shopping at the big box store and that has got to stop. I’m walking thru and seeing all of these cute, fashionable items and it made me realize that I’m short-changing myself when it comes to style. No more of that.
Not saying that I still don’t love a bargain, because I do. But my goodness, I’m a Plain Jane!!! I deserve to have some pretty clothes, have a shoe collection, accessorize…where did all of that go? No more of the frumpy mama…like my daughter said “mommy I want you to be sexy for daddy” You darn right! {SN: she asked me what sexy means, I told her it’s an adult word that means looking hot and good for your husband}
This all leads me to the fact that….it’s time to bring it. It’s time to bring my sexy back for real. It’s gonna be hard work but I’m up for the challenge. Next month I’m going to order Turbo Fire or Shakeology…I’m not sure which one first, but I’m leaning towards the Turbo Fire. I’m trying to use this month to ease back into it that way I can really bring it starting next month.
I’m about to turn 29 in a couple of months…I gotta get this turned around. So me and my ace are gonna support each other. She’s getting married in Nov and wants to lose a few lbs and I would like to go into my 29th year feeling better than and looking better than I do now! I’m feeling like my body is ready to start easing back into working out, so let’s do it!!
I’m ready to be happy with my body. Ready to enjoy my time to myself, my “turbo time”. It’s a journey that’s not always easy or pleasant, it takes hard work and discipline, but I’m up for the challenge. I’mready to be his trophy wife — plain and simple.
@Miss Ellis
awww thanks cuzo! I'm definitely planning on coming within the next month!
You deserve to have nice things because you're a great mom, friend, cousin and daughter. I'm glad you came to my apartment warming. I think some great places for you to shop would be GAP, Forever 21, H&M, etc. There are so many great places. You should try another trip to Raleigh soon!
